While we think of Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer, this holiday is more than a family and friends barbecue and a three day weekend. On Monday, May 29, people will visit loved ones at cemeteries, volunteers will decorate parade floats, and children will march in parades. The truth is that many Americans have little connection to the holiday or understanding of how it began in the first place. This is a day to not only honor and remember those who have died while serving in our military, but it is also a day to remember all loved ones who have passed away.
Before you set out the lawn chairs for your family’s barbecue or drive over to attend your town’s parade, we ask that you reflect on the lives lost protecting our country. All of us at Storage Authority offer our profound gratitude to those who have given their lives for our glorious country. We have not forgotten those that have fallen for our country.
