Pegboards are perfect for maximizing wall space and always staying in style! Before heading over to the hardware store to grab supplies, take a moment to plan the project and consider how it will hold the tools.
Materials
- One pegboard sheet
- Three pieces of 1″x 2″ board (cut three inches shorter than the width of the board)
- Wood screws
- Pegboard accessories
- Level
- Drill
- Stud finder
Measure Space on Your Wall
Use a stud finder to find the studs on your garage wall, marking with a pencil the general area where your top frame board is installed.
Mark on the wall where you want the top of the pegboard to be. Be sure to remember that your frame boards are shorter than your pegboard.
Pre-drill Holes Through the Frame Boards and Wall
Pre-drill three holes horizontally along the 1″x 2″ pieces drilling into a stud in the wall, starting with the top board. After drilling the first hole, ensure the piece is level. Follow the same steps with the next two screws to secure the board.
Measure for the Bottom Frame Board
Repeat step two for the bottom board. Use a level to ensure it is level with the top panel and lined up with the top board. Measure and mark space first, and pre-drill through the board, securing with wood screws.
Repeat for the Middle Board
Measure where the middle board is located, but be sure it lines up with the other two and is level.
Mount the Pegboard to the Frame Boards
Lift your pegboard into place, remembering to center the board along the frame boards that are shorter than the pegboard.
Watch where your pegboard holes line up on the frame boards. You can secure your pegboard by pre-drilling it into the wood frames and then securing it with wood screws to the boards.
Modify the Pegboard With Tools!
Organize the tools and accessories. The wonder of pegboard organization is that if you’re unhappy with it, unhook the compartment and locate another part of the pegboard.
Please note: Customers cannot put up pegboards in their storage units.
